New Publication in Frontiers in Psychology

Research conducted in the BAP Lab in collaboration with the Bates Cognition lab has been published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology! This work investigated the alerting-congruency interaction, the counterintuitive finding that participants are worse at ignoring distraction (in a Flanker task) when they are alerted about an upcoming trial compared to when they are not alerted. We find support for the claim that this interaction is driven by alerting cues boosting phasic arousal which in turn amplifies prepotent stimulus–response associations.
